We can help you develop classroom materials, lesson plans, and interactive activities for any educational level – from primary school to college. Local history is our specialty, and we would welcome discussing with you items that we can create – such as interactive maps and timelines that coincide with lessons related to your neighborhood, town, or county.
Over the years, we’ve developed and taught local history programs for a variety of audiences – middle school students, the general public, and senior citizen travel-and-learn groups. So, if you are looking for a guest speaker to bring history to your students in a fresh, dynamic fashion, we are happy to help!
Or, allow us to move your students’ learning of history out of the classroom and into practical experience. For example, in 2016, we fostered a “kid pickers” program in Columbus, Ohio in conjunction with an antique show/fundraiser for a local public history group. Modeled after a similar activity made popular by the American Pickers television show, kids from approximate ages 10-17 got to try their hand as antique dealers for the day. This event immersed students in an entrepreneurial experience, and groomed their love for history and antiques! We would welcome helping you with a similar activity. If that sounds like a bit of a reach, we take take a more modest path by teaching your students how to conduct authentic historical research so they learn through first-hand experience!
Allow your students to experience history as something more than names and dates. Allow us to help you bring it to life for them!
